As a teacher, I thought I knew how to navigate the school system, but when it came to getting my autistic son the support he needed, I was at a loss. That’s when we found Scott, and I can’t say enough about the impact he’s had on our son’s life. Scott stepped in and made sure our son was fully supported at school, not just academically but socially as well. Now that our son is in high school and needed major changes to his IEP, Scott worked with us as parents and facilitated collaboration with the school team to build an IEP that truly meets his needs. If I could give more than five stars I would. Mr. Michaelson Is a very kind, understanding, thoughtful, caring person and generally cares for his clients. His expertise is amazing. Mr. Michaelson works collaboratively with families to develop what’s needed for their children. Scott has been a lifesaver for our family! My son always had a tough time at school, and even though he had an IEP, he wasn’t getting the support he needed. That’s when we connected with Scott, and everything changed. He helped us find the right school placement and worked closely with us and the school on reworking my son’s IEP to make sure he was getting the proper accommodations and services. Since then, my son has improved significantly—no more trouble at school, thriving socially, and finally experiencing academic success. We plan to keep working with Scott right up until graduation of high school, and for any other changes we need to make to keep my son’s IEP up-to-date and effective. Scott is one of a kind (in the best of ways). As former principal of my children’s school, Scott has always been dedicated to building strong relationships with not just the students but the families as well. He took the time to listen, understand, and always advocated for the best interest of the kids. All children, including those with IEPs, were fully supported under his leadership.
